Mammoth Cave National Park seeking public comments on assessment

MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. – Mammoth Cave National Park is asking for the public to share its opinion for a draft Land and River Trails Management Plan Environmental Assessment.
According to a release on Wednesday, a completed assessment of this type gives the park a long-term plan for trail maintenance, investment and construction for the next several decades.
“The overall goal of the LRTMP is to protect park resources by utilizing sustainable trail construction techniques that limit erosion while also providing increased visitor access and recreational opportunities to new areas of interest within the park,” superintendent Barclay Trimble said. “Park service planners have created several ways for the public to review the plan’s information before they officially provide their comments.”
You can learn more about the plan here and here.
Those who wish to submit comments may do so through the Planning, Environment and Public Comment website from Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Nov. 15.
Two public meetings are also scheduled regarding this topic. The first meeting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 22 at the Warren County Library Bob Kirby Branch at 175 Iron Skillet Court in Bowling Green from 4 to 6 p.m. The second meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Edmonson County Library at 280 Ferguson St. in Brownsville from 4 to 6 p.m.
