DSSKY and Texas Roadhouse partner for July fundraisers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) — Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky (DSSKY) is teaming up with Texas Roadhouse in Bowling Green throughout July to raise funds for the non-profit’s building fund and programming, according to a release from DSSKY.
July 1-31 guests can round up their bill or make an additional donation at the restaurant. While supplies last, those who donate will receive a free appetizer voucher and a special gift from DSSKY’s 21 Designs, which features arts and crafts handmade by individuals with Down syndrome.
DSSKY also plans to raise money through a Texas Roadhouse virtual gift card fundraiser. The release says a portion of e-gift card purchases made through a forthcoming dedicated link will benefit the organization’s programs and building fund.
Several featured events are planned on select dates during the month.
On July 7, Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of eligible sales to the organization during a designated window, with family treats from Scoops of Joy planned. Scoops of Joy is a DSSKY-owned ice cream truck that employs individuals with Down syndrome and helps them build job, food service, money handling and customer service skills.
On July 21, DSSKY will host a Friendship Day Kids Night, featuring children’s activities, Scoops of Joy and scratch art. Texas Roadhouse will also donate 10% of eligible sales to DSSKY that day, according to the release.
A dunk tank fundraiser with DSSKY at the Southern Kentucky Fair is also planned, with the final date still to be confirmed.
On July 29, local first responders will take part in a rib-eating challenge featuring the Bowling Green Police Department, Bowling Green Fire Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Scoops of Joy and 21 Designs are also expected to be on-site. The restaurant will also donate 10% of eligible sales to DSSKY.
Proceeds from all the events, round-up nights and virtual gift card fundraiser will support DSSKY’s mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families by providing support, information, education, resources, networking, and activities.
