Bowling Green man charged with sexual extortion, additional offenses involving minor

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges, including sexual extortion.

According to a uniform citation, police responded to a Bowling Green residence on June 7 regarding a delayed sex offense.

Authorities say a caller stated concerning messages had been located on a child’s phone.

Police say the caller further stated the messages were sexual in nature and were sent between a 13-year-old female and a 19-year-old male, identified as Bruno Vieira.

Authorities say upon speaking with Vieira, he admitted to taking part in sexual electronic conversations with the minor.

Vieira was taken into custody following the interview. Additional charges may be pending, according to police.

Vieira remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of procuring or promoting use of minor by electronic means. promoting sex performance by minor under 16 years of age, possession of matter sex performance by minor over 12 but under 18 and sexual extortion.

According to the Kentucky Department of Education, ​”sexual extortion, also known as sextortion, occurs when someone threatens another person – through violence, harm to reputation, or distribution of explicit material – with the intent to coerce them into unwanted actions.”
