WCPS accepting frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving meal giveaways
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Warren County Public Schools is now accepting frozen turkeys for its sixth annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway.
They have a goal of raising donations of 300 frozen turkeys this year. So far, they’ve only raised 10. Organizers say the partnership with local businesses and the community is important for them to continue gifting meals.
“We will provide food boxes for families in need within our school population, and we have a great organization, House on the Hill, who provide the food boxes. We collect the turkeys to add to those boxes. It just makes you feel good, because you know that people care for their neighbors, and to me, that is just a blessing to know that we have a community like this,” says Ben Kirtley, the director of Family Resource and Youth Services Center for WCPS.
If you want to donate, you can head over to 303 Lovers Lane at the WCPS School Board and drop off your frozen turkeys.
