Man charged after reported vehicle pursuit in Hart County

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges after a reported vehicle pursuit in Hart County on Thursday night.
According to a uniform citation, shortly before 10 p.m., a Hart County Sheriff’s Department deputy measured a vehicle traveling 83 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone in the 5300 block of South Dixie Highway.
According to the deputy, a traffic stop was attempted, however, the vehicle continued traveling before turning onto Julius Mills Road.
Authorities say the vehicle continued to turn again onto Cedar Cliff Church Road, appearing to try to evade law enforcement.
The deputy states after catching up with the vehicle again, it stopped at the end of a driveway.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Braden Wolfe, was removed from the vehicle and detained, along with his passenger.
Authorities say Wolfe stated he was “trying to get to the liquor store in Cave City before it closed” and that he didn’t believe the deputy was trying to stop him.
According to the citation, Wolfe smelled of alcoholic beverages. Wolfe was arrested, and Standard Field Sobriety Testing was performed. Authorities say Wolfe additionally measured at .046 during a breath test.
Wolfe was transported to the Hart County Jail. According to authorities, due to Wolfe being under 21, he was above the limit for that age due to being over .02 during a breath test.
Wolfe was charged with speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, failure to or improper signal, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, improper display of registration plates, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security and failure to produce an insurance card.
He has since been released, according to jail records.
