UK College of Medicine Bowling Green campus welcomes class of 2030
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The University of Kentucky College of Medicine’s Bowling Green Campus welcomed the incoming class of 2030 on Thursday at Van Meter Hall.
The 32 students received the traditional white lab coats that represent the beginning of their journey to become doctors. Faculty, family and friends celebrated the physicians-in-training and their commencement of an ambitious course of study.
“Each white coat placed on a student’s shoulders today represents a commitment to knowledge, integrity, critical inquiry, service and compassion. We are so proud of each of you and the journey that you are going to begin.”
Dr. Caroline Paul, associate dean at UK College of Medicine BG Campus, said, “Becoming a doctor is a process. But in that process, starting with today, they begin to embrace humility, critical inquiry, compassion and this life of service.”
Zach Talmon, a student at UK College of Medicine, said, “I’m just excited to get started with medical school, and I look forward to learning as much as I can and serving the patients of Kentucky.”
The four-year program will end with a medical degree and a transition to a residency, which is a multi-year, supervised practice of medicine.
The UK College of Medicine’s new students came from across the country from diverse educational backgrounds. Many of them, though, are from right here in south-central Kentucky.
