Operation PRIDE gives 165 free trees to locals
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Operation PRIDE held its annual tree giveaway.
This year, in partnership with International Paper, they gave 165 trees away, along with mulch. Citizens had the choice to choose from white dogwood, to sun valley maple and more.
Organizers say this giveaway helps reforestation in south-central Kentucky.
“There’s a huge demand for them. Evidently, we had people lining up for them at 6 o’clock this morning. The tornado that we had here back in December 2023, we lost a lot of our canopy in this community, and it’s important that we try to build that back up,” said Rick Williams, a board member of Operation PRIDE.
Organizers said the traffic line wrapped around the block, and the trees were gone extremely early.
