Guide: where to find local back to school events

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As the next school year approaches, there are multiple back to school events scheduled throughout the local area.

News 40 has included a list below of local events by county.

Warren County 

• Wednesday, July 30: Back to School Splash at New Life Church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. School supplies will be given away at the end of the evening for those in attendance. Plus, families can enjoy a hot dog meal.
• Tuesday, Aug. 5: Back-2-School Kids Night at Texas Roadhouse from 5 to 8 p.m. Kids can meet Andy the Armadillo, and families can look forward to free school supplies, face painting, rock painting, visits from DSSKY, BGPD, Toys for Tots and more.
• Sunday, Aug. 10: Potter Gray Elementary Back to School Bash from 3 to 5 p.m. Food trucks will be available, and families can meet their child’s teacher.

Allen County 

• Wednesday, July 30: Back to School Bash at Dugas Community Park in the Dumont Hill Section at 336 North Bedelia St. from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Families can expect free activities and crafts, free food and refreshments, and back to school giveaways while supplies last.

Barren County 

• Friday, July 25: Cram the Cruiser with the Glasgow Police Department and Barren County Sheriff’s Office from 10 a.m. t0 6 p.m. This school supply drive benefitting students in Glasgow and Barren County will be accepting donations at Walmart and Dollar General located off of Happy Valley Road . 31-E Haywood and Veterans Outer Loop/Columbia Avenue locations in Glasgow.
• Thursday, Aug. 7: NJE Back to School Bash from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Families can meet their child’s teachers and see classrooms.
• Thursday, Aug. 14: Glasgow Middle School Back to School Bash from 4 to 6 p.m.

Butler County

• Wednesday, Aug. 6: Morgantown Mission Back to School Bash at Charles Black City Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Free dinner for all families, plus vendors, giveaways, games and a sign up for free school supplies for any Butler County Schools student.

Edmonson County

• Friday, July 25: Edmonson County Cram the Cruiser School Supply Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between CeeBee Food Store and C&C Firearms/Family Dollar.

Hart County 

• Friday, July 25: Cram the Cruiser with multiple law enforcement agencies at Horse Cave and Cave City Dollar General locations. This will last from 10 a.m. t0 3 p.m. and will benefit the Caverna Famliy Resource Center.
• Wednesday, Aug. 6: Little Colonels Kindergarten Camp from 8 a.m. to noon at Caverna Elementary School.
• Thursday, Aug. 7: Caverna Family Resource and Youth Services Center Readifest 2025 at the Cave Area Conference Center in Cave City from 9 to 11 a.m. Open to all students attending Caverna schools. Free school supplies, vendors and more.
• Monday, Aug. 11: Caverna Middle School Back to School Bash from 6 to 7 p.m. Families can pick up schedules and meet teachers.

Logan County

• Monday, July 28: New Student Welcome and Transition to Adairville School from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tour the school and meet the staff.
• Wednesday, July 31: Back to School for Logan County and Russellville students at the Logan County Extension Office from 3 to 5 p.m. Free games and inflatables, free haircuts, school supplies and more.

Metcalfe County

• Monday, Aug. 18: Metcalfe County Elementary School Back to School Bash from noon to 6 p.m.

Simpson County

• Saturday, Aug. 2: Back to School Bash at the Franklin Police Department from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The department is also hosting a school supply drive through Aug. 12. More information can be found here.
