Man arrested after large crowd gathers outside of Alvaton business
ALVATON, Ky. – One man is behind bars after authorities say a crowd would not allow a deputy to leave a parking lot.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police responded on Saturday to 115 Wilson Road to assist a Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Authorities say around 50 to 100 people had surrounded the deputy’s cruiser and were not allowing the deputy to exit the vehicle.
Upon arrival, troopers say a large group of people had gathered outside of a business. Authorities say the business owner told the crowd to either go inside to eat or leave the premises.
Authorities say 18-year-old Dalton Story of Bowling Green “advanced toward law enforcement officers while yelling and cursing.”
When authorities told Story he was under arrest, they say he resisted and hid his hands before later landing on the hood of a vehicle in the parking lot and banging his head on the hood.
Troopers say it took multiple law enforcement officers to arrest Story.
Authorities say while being escorted, Story tried multiple times to kick a trooper in the leg.
Story then went to the ground and refused to walk, authorities say, causing them to carry him to the cruiser.
Authorities say the damage to the vehicle was believed to be over $500.
Story was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail. He faces charges of third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
