4 Bowling Green men arrested for drug trafficking, engaging in organized crime
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Four Bowling Green men were arrested Tuesday on drug trafficking and engaging in organized crime charges.
According to a uniform citation, Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant at a home on Calgary Way after receiving information in an ongoing investigation.
During the investigation, detectives located an “active production operation manufacturing THC vape cartridges,” according to the citation. The Bowling Green–Warren County Drug Task Force states the operation was “conducted inside the garage.”
In addition, authorities say products were “being manufactured and processed in unsanitary, non-sterile conditions not suitable for the production of a consumer product.”
The agency states this is the first marijuana vape manufacturing operation of its type seen by the task force in its 29-year operation.
Twenty-four-year-old Sayvon Howard, 27-year-old Dayshawn Mitchell, 24-year-old Javon Mitchell and 56-year-old George Murray, all of Bowling Green, were arrested on charges of trafficking in marijuana (greater than 5 pounds) and engaging in organized crime after the search.
Authorities say multiple firearms were also located.
All of the individuals were lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
According to the Warren County Regional Website, all four men have been released on a $6,000 cash bond.
“These products are manufactured outside of any legitimate regulatory or safety standards, creating additional risks for the individuals who ultimately consume them,” the task force stated.
During the execution of the search warrant, detectives and troopers say they located and seized “2,146 illegally manufactured marijuana vape products, hundreds of commercial appearing packaging boxes for the vapes, more than two gallons of liquid marijuana extract, which investigators estimate to be the equivalent of approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, 48 oxycodone tablets, two handguns, one shotgun and $3,489 in cash.” In addition, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was seized in connection with the investigation.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
