Firefighters respond to house fire in Barren County

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Firefighters battled a house fire Saturday in Barren County.

The South Barren Fire Department, assisted by the Haywood, Park City and Smiths Grove Fire Department, responded to the fire.

According to social media post by the South Barren Fire Department, a SBFD firefighter was the first to arrive at the scene. The firefighter confirmed that all occupants were outside of the home and began attacking the fire with a garden hose.

Units arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze.

SBFD says an illegal fire outside the home that extended to the home.

“This is a reminder that currently Barren County is in a burn ban and the only permitted fire is inside a fire pit within an established campground,” SBFD stated in the post.
