Fatal Crash

BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – One person is dead, and two others were transported after a crash Friday in Edmonson County.

Just after 9 a.m., the Kentucky State Police says it received a call from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance with a fatal collision.

Troopers say they responded to the intersection of Pig Road (Highway 422) and Brownsville Road (HWY 259).

Authorities say a preliminary investigation indicates a Honda CRV driven by Elijah Landers, 20, of Little Silver, New Jersey was traveling east on Pig Road and was approaching the intersection of Brownsville Road.

Landers reportedly attempted to cross Brownsville Road and collided with a Ford LT9000 dump truck that was traveling north and was driven by Paxton Sowders, 24, of Brownsville.

A passenger in Landers’ vehicle, Colin Sharpe, 20, of Holmdel, New Jersey, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Edmonson County Coroner.

Landers was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Sowders was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green, where he will be treated for his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. He was assisted at the scene by the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office, Edmonson County EMS, Edmonson County Coroner’s Office, and other KSP personnel.
