SKYPAC opens new doors to Robert P. Ramsey Annex

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- New doors are open for the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center’s Robert P. Ramsey Annex.

The four-story building has practice rooms, 10 hospitality housing units, production spaces, administration offices and more.

The project cost more than $8.5 million to complete, with the help of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The building was named after the late Robert P. Ramsey, who believed in SKYPAC and the arts it presented.

The CEO and president of SKYPAC, Jeffrey Reed, said the place was created to be an expansion of the original SKYPAC building and present educational learning experiences about the arts.

“At SKYPAC you see the finished product. What you rarely see is everything that happens before the curtain goes up. Rehearsals, the scenery being built, the hours of preparation, it’s a lot. This annex gives room for that to happen,” Reed said.

The additional space also supports its resident companies like Ramsey Theater Company, Orchestra Kentucky and BG OnStage.

SKYPAC board member Craig Browning said this is a step in the right direction and future of the arts in south-central Kentucky.

“It’s an investment not only in a building but in the people, the creativity, the quality of life in this region,” Browning said.

If you missed Friday’s ribbon cutting, you can take a peep at the new building at 322 E. Seventh St.
