UPDATE: 1 dead after head-on collision involving semi-truck in Hardin County

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. – The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal head-on crash involving a semi-truck.

According to a media release, HCSO deputies responded to a two-vehicle collision on Joe Prather Highway Wednesday at approximately 2:18 pm.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by a Louisville man was traveling west when it crossed into the path of a semi-truck operated by a Corbin man. The vehicles collided head-on.

The Louisville man was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was transported to Baptist Health Hardin for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

HCSO says Joe Prather Highway is closed in both directions for one to two hours for investigation.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
