Kentucky State Police investigating fatal multi-vehicle crash in Floyd County

MINNIE, Ky. – One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Floyd County on Friday.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers were notified about a three-vehicle fatal collision in Floyd County shortly after 2:20 p.m. on Jan. 17.

The collision took place at the intersection of Kentucky Route 1103 and Kentucky Route 680 in the Minnie community of Floyd County.

Troopers say they learned Terry Samons was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma and attempted to merge onto KY Route 680 when his vehicle was struck by a 2020 Ford Escape driven by Elsie Watts.

According to authorities, Samons’ vehicle then collided with a 2023 Toyota Highlander driven by Elizabeth Isaac.

Samons was pronounced dead at the scene by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation.
