Mayor Todd Alcott signs proclamation for National Hunger Action Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- September is National Hunger Month, and local organizations are teaming up to fight hunger.

Feeding America says it distributed more than $1.5 million worth of food to Warren County residents this year alone. On Tuesday, Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott signed a proclamation recognizing September as Hunger Action Month.

Aetna, who partnered with the charity, gave a check of $50,000 to help fight hunger in Warren County at the signing.

Alcott said with the prices of gas and inflation affecting families, organizations like Feeding America are helping make sure people don’t have to go without food.

“Everyone has been to the grocery store, seen the prices and we know what the prices of gasoline are. Imagine even if it costs more for diesel and we are all, as consumers, paying the price. Right now, the gap between feeding your family and bills is growing. And Feeding America helps fill that gap,” Alcott said.
