CAVE CITY, Ky. – The Cave City Police Department is introducing its newest member.

The department posted to social media on Friday, welcoming K-9 Mako to the team.

CPD says the Dutch Shepherd is partnered with officer Jacob Kersey, who has worked with the K-9 to earn their certification in narcotics detection and tracking.

The Cave City Police Department says one of chief Paul Reynolds’ goals since entering his new position is to improve the K-9 program and eradicate additional illegal narcotics from the community.

Police say Reynolds feels this step is a “huge way” to achieve this.

The dynamic team is also already arranging to take training and courses to further improve their skills. News 40 welcomes this new addition to the community.
