Women in the Arts gives spotlight to talent in Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Med Center Health held their 31st Women in the Arts exhibit this past weekend.
Women artists from across the state came to showcase everything, from paintings, sculptures and ceramics to works on paper, fiber works and photography.
The awards included the Special Purchase, Cash Merit, Honorable Mention and the Artworks Award.
Many women took the time to recognize the importance of uplifting each other, especially when it comes to women in male-dominated professions.
“I’m not sure about other medias, but I know particularly with landscape photography, it’s mostly male dominated, so it’s really nice to have an opportunity to be put in the front,” photographer Victoria Boyd said.
Another artist, painter Hannah Holly, said she had never participated in Women in the Arts before.
“I want to get out there and see what other people have to offer,” she said. “I want to see what I have to offer.”
Med Center Health is looking forward to more opportunities to uplift women in our state.
