BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is charged with arson after a fire Thursday night on Park Street.

According to a uniform citation, Bowling Green police arrived at 1119 Park St. with fire units, where a structure’s roof was engulfed in flames.

Authorities say witnesses reported hearing a banging noise from an overhead apartment before the fire started.

A male on scene, 36-year-old Ronald Beard, was taken into custody and transported for treatment.

Authorities say Beard had injuries, and while they had tried to examine them, Beard allegedly struck an officer’s hand.

After a search from a fire arson investigator, authorities say arson was confirmed on scene.

Beard was later transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

He remains on multiple charges, including first-degree arson, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer and resisting arrest.
