Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force discusses latest work, reopening older cases

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky – Over the past several weeks, the Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force says it has received multiple emails and messages from the community asking to take a look at older cases.
The agency says the cases range from overdose deaths to missing persons, along with families searching for answers.
In a social media post on Friday, detectives say they hear these community members and appreciate them reaching out.
Currently, the task force says it includes four detectives. The past couple of months have brought multiple cases, the agency says, including 29 opened or reopened criminal investigations, 12 search warrants and 14 indictments, which have had murder, rape and criminal abuse charges.
According to the agency, the Allen County Grand Jury meets once a month.
In the meantime, the task force says it is managing “a significant caseload” and anticipates “considerable progress throughout November and December.”
“We are also fortunate to have some outstanding officers and deputies who have offered to assist our unit. We sincerely appreciate their willingness to help and especially want to thank the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force for its continued assistance and support,” the agency stated.
Looking Ahead
The task force says it would like to set aside some days in November and potentially in December to meet families, friends and concerned citizens hoping to have another look at an older case.
Those dates have not yet been released, however, News 40 will share those details as they are available.
The agency says this would provide the chance to sit down in private, individual meetings, hear concerns and discuss information, along with getting to know the community.
“We cannot promise that every case will be reopened or that every question will have an immediate answer. However, we can promise that we are willing to listen and carefully consider the information you bring to us.” the agency states.
In the meantime, the community may email Detective Dillon at r.dillon@scottsvillepolice.org. The task force asks to include relevant information, such as documents, reports, photographs and other details.
