Scottsville Police Department welcomes new police chief

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The Scottsville Police Department is welcoming a new chief of police.
Chief Danny Wilson has been announced as the department’s newest team member.
Wilson says, “It is my great honor to serve as your chief of police. I promise to bring excitement and new energy to this area, to be actively engaged with our citizens, and to exceed expectations in every aspect of our service. Together, we will set new goals and work tirelessly to build a safer, stronger community for all.”
Wilson, a 1998 graduate of Allen County-Scottsville High School, eared a bachelor’s degree in Christian leadership before serving for six years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps, according to the department.
During that time, officials say he completed two combat tours, including Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also deployed as an infantry Marine during the Iraq invasion of 2003.
Wilson returned to Iraq in 2004 as an infantry team leader and led a small team of Marines during combat operations in the city of Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, Wilson then joined the Tennessee Air National Guard, serving as a combat arms instructor, according to officials. This involved leading, training and preparing troops in combat tactics for potential combat operations.
After a 22-year military career, Wilson retired in February 2025 at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Officials say Wilson devoted the past 15 years law enforcement, most recently serving as chief deputy for the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
During his time at the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, officials say Wilson served alongside two different sheriffs. Officials say Wilson had a major part in working alongside the sheriff to build a team-oriented sheriff’s office. Wilson was the founder and commander of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office first special response team, which is still active today.
Wilson worked alongside former chief Darren Tabor and sheriff Crooke to assist with the first multi-agency task force of the Scottsville Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Wilson also served in multiple roles at the sheriff’s office, including as a patrol deputy before being promoted to sergeant. Wilson was later promoted to lieutenant before reaching the rank of chief deputy.
Wilson continued his role as chief deputy before being appointed as the new chief of police for the Scottsville Police Department.
“My commitment is rooted in my love for this community, my deep faith and my belief in the power of teamwork. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated officers and the wonderful people of Allen County-Scottsville to create a future we can all be proud of,” Wilson stated.
