Officials: 17 people were on board 2 boats when collision occurred on Barren River Lake

GLASGOW, Ky.- WNKY has learned new details on a boating accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Barren River Lake.

According to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, the crash occurred between a pontoon and a deck boat near Goose Island.

On one boat, there were nine people on board and on the other, eight people were on board. In total, there were 14 juveniles.

When the collision occurred, several people were thrown into the water. Officers said an adult and two children were sent to TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow for minor injuries and were released Wednesday evening.

Officers said both boats were rentals and they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
