Man charged with fleeing police in Cave City
CAVE CITY, Ky. – Authorities say a man was arrested on multiple charges after fleeing from an officer.
A Cave City police officer observed a vehicle on Tuesday, July 5 driving on Broadway Street with one headlight. Authorities stated a Cave officer followed the vehicle to North 11th St. and attempted a traffic stop.
According to Cave City Police Department, the driver shut all vehicle lights off and began driving away at a high speed. The officer was able to intercept the vehicle on South 14th St. Authorities stated the vehicle came to a stop and the driver ran on foot.
An additional officer and a Cave City police K-9 arrived on scene and found the subject hiding under a bush on Crestview Drive.
The subject was identified as Wimpy Hogan, 53.
Hogan was taken into custody without further incident and was confirmed to have an active warrant for his arrest.
Hogan was arrested and charged with speeding 20 mph over the speed limit, one headlight, failure to illuminate head lamps, no tail lamps, reckless driving, disregarding a stop sign, no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, failure to produce insurance card, fleeing or evading police, first degree (motor vehicle), fleeing or evading police, second degree (on foot) and wanton endangerment, first degree, police officer.
Hogan was lodged in Barren County Detention Center.
