Man charged with murder after woman found dead in Muhlenberg County

BREMEN, Ky. (WNKY) – A Muhlenberg County man is facing a murder charge after a woman was found dead inside a home near Bremen.

Kentucky State Police say 33-year-old Skylar Shanks is charged with murder-domestic violence in connection with the death of 39-year-old Amber DeArmond.

Troopers were called Sunday to a home on Wild Horse Lane, where they found DeArmond with a gunshot wound. Investigators also found a shell casing inside the home.

A witness told police she heard a gunshot before Shanks came into a bedroom and said they needed to leave.

Investigators later found Shanks hiding underneath a pool deck at a nearby home. Police say he ran from troopers before being taken into custody.

Shanks also faces charges including fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, trafficking in methamphetamine, drug possession and tampering with physical evidence.

His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 12.
