LEXINGTON, Ky. (WNKY) – U.S. Marshals have arrested a 26-year-old Kentucky man wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Montgomery County.

Arionne Harris was charged with murder and leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid following the Sept. 29 death of a woman at a Pilot truck stop in Mount Sterling, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

After Harris was identified as a suspect, the sheriff’s office requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service in locating him.

Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service’s Eastern District of Kentucky determined Harris was likely in Kansas, outside the Kansas City area.

U.S. Marshals in the District of Kansas arrested Harris Tuesday morning in Edwardsville, Kansas, without incident.

Harris is expected to be extradited to Kentucky to face the charges. He also has an outstanding warrant in Texas for failure to report as a sex offender stemming from a prior rape offense.

The U.S. Marshals Service assists federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in locating and apprehending fugitives.
