Logan County High School unveils completed $33 million renovation
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. — Students returning to Logan County High School this school year will be greeted by a campus with new learning spaces, enhanced safety features and updated facilities following the completion of a $33 million renovation project.
District leaders celebrated the completion of the multi-million-dollar renovation, which modernized much of the school while creating new opportunities for students and the community.
The project included renovated classrooms and science labs, a brand-new foods lab, an expanded front office designed to improve campus security, a new auditorium and an enclosed courtyard where students can eat lunch and spend time outdoors in a secure space.
“We’ve redone hallways, classrooms, some of our labs, the front office area,” said Superintendent Dr. Dan Costellow. “We’ve extended it and made it more safe, and it really adds to the looks of our building.”
One of the most significant additions is the school’s new auditorium, giving Logan County High its own dedicated space for drama and music classes, assemblies, club meetings and community events.
“Our auditorium is an amazing facility,” Costellow said. “It was long overdue. We needed a place to have our own so we could have drama class, music class, meetings, FFA, other clubs and different types of events—not only for the school, but for the community.”
Outside, the improvements continue with two new greenhouses for the agriculture program, a new head house that also serves as a baseball concession stand, new restrooms near the baseball field, updated landscaping and parking lot improvements.
Costellow said the district’s goal has been to provide students with facilities that prepare them for success while making the community proud.
“I want our students and our community, our parents, our staff—I want everybody to be proud of not only Logan County High School, but all of our facilities,” Costellow said. “We all want what’s best for kids, and we all want what’s best for our community.”
While construction at Logan County High School has wrapped up, the district is already looking ahead. Work is underway on a separate $10 million expansion of the Logan County Career and Technical Center, which will add new career pathways, including diesel technology and plumbing, for future students.
