Justice department balks on Mueller documents

(NBC News) The Justice Department is threatening to claim executive privilege over the entire Mueller report, much of it already public, and the underlying evidence unless Democrats cancel a scheduled contempt vote against Attorney General William Barr for refusing to comply with a subpoena to provide the full report.

“This kind of obstruction is dangerous” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler said after receiving a letter outlining the Justice Department’s position.

Nadler confirms the vote will still occur.

Democrats argue their investigation is not just about President Trump and obstruction. A big part of the Mueller report was about Russia interfering in the 2016 election and lessons to be learned for 2020.
