Household Hazardous Waste Day: what you need to know to participate safely

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Warren County’s Division of Stormwater Management will be partnering with multiple businesses on April 25 to provide local families with environmentally friendly ways to remove hazardous waste around their homes.
This event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 999 Lauren Avery Drive.
Household Hazardous Waste can easily be found in items such as paint, anti-freeze, oil and more. By properly disposing of the waste, not only do families clear up some space but also these materials can be properly recycled and also reduce their lifetime in landfills.
The list below are just a few of the approved items that families can bring to Household Hazardous Waste Day:
● Adhesives
● Latex paint, oil paint
● Aerosol cans
● Fluorescent light bulbs
● Car batteries
● Transmission fluids
● Weed killers and pesticides
While there are many items that are approved to bring on-site, here are a couple materials not
allowed to bring:
● Explosives
● Tires
● Radioactive, biological and infection waste
The reasoning for this day is to ensure the safety of families and to properly dispose of hazardous waste. A couple reminders for the public is to never mix chemicals, never smoke while dealing with these materials, do not place the waste in plastic bags and to tighten all caps and lids on the containers.
