CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Hopkinsville woman is charged with driving under the influence after allegedly crashing into a mailbox.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a cell phone crash-detection alert Thursday evening at Forest Park Boulevard.

Deputies say 40-year-old Dishae Poindexter, of Hopkinsville, was driving an SUV when it struck a large brick mailbox.

Poindexter allegedly showed “several signs of being under the influence of alcohol, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on her breath,” according to CCSO.

Deputies say that following a field sobriety test, Poindexter was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

The investigation is ongoing.
