Hart County Cattlemen’s Association hosts ‘Farm to Table Dinner’

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – The Hart County Cattlemen’s Association welcomed more than 300 guests Friday evening for its annual Farm-to-Table Dinner at the Hart County Fairgrounds, celebrating local agriculture and supporting future farmers.

The event nearly sold out, featuring a meal prepared with ingredients grown or raised in Hart County and across south-central Kentucky. Organizers said many of the dishes were prepared by members of the Hart County Cattlemen’s Association.

Farm-to-Table Coordinator Adam Estes said the dinner serves as a showcase for the area’s agricultural producers.

“I think it shows people what we have in the county,” Estes said. “Some people may not realize the variety of producers we have here. We’re big vegetable producers, along with so many other agricultural products, and this event gives us an opportunity to showcase what our farmers do.”

The evening also featured a live auction with items ranging from toy tractors to farm equipment. Proceeds from the auction benefited the Hart County FFA Alumni, helping support programs and activities for local FFA students.

“Tonight is special because the Hart County FFA Alumni is hosting an auction that’s going to help fund things for the FFA kids throughout the year,” said Farm-to-Table Coordinator Marla Gardner.

Hart County Judge-Executive, Joe Choate, said the event not only highlights locally grown food but also gives farmers an opportunity to connect with one another during a busy time of year.

“This is a great time for our farmers to get together and socialize,” Choate said. “They can catch up, talk about how their families are doing and discuss how the growing season is going. Hopefully, we’ll finish the year with a good crop.”

Organizers said planning for the annual Farm-to-Table Dinner begins nearly a year in advance, with volunteers and local producers working together to make the event a success while celebrating Hart County’s agricultural heritage.
