Local EMS director helping connect KY’s healthcare system through shared app

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky is moving forward with an app, called Pulsara, that will unite EMS and hospital staff, urgent cares, nursing homes, testing clinics, standalone emergency departments, and more to connect all members of the care team, regardless of location, organization, or position.

Pulsara is expected to create a more connected, coordinated healthcare system across our hospitals, EMS agencies, and health care partners. 

Bowling Green and much of the surrounding area already is using the app, but Med Center EMS director, Seth Wilson, played a major roll in getting the area using the app and is now a part of a town hall meeting helping the app get pushed through the rest of the state. 

This statewide approach will strengthen rural healthcare by connecting communities to the resources and specialists they need, regardless of where patients enter the system. 

“The sooner you can get information to a hospital and with the correct information, the better off a patient outcome it’s getting from from moment one where EMS picks up the patient to in that case, type into the hospital. That’s everybody, not only the E.R., but all the downstream departments know exactly what’s going on with that patient from from moment one,” said Wilson.

The app is expected to be adopted by the rest of the state in the next six months.
