Four indicted on charges related to death of 19-month-old
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Barren County Sheriff’s Office served four indictment warrants Friday on charges related to the death of a child.
The sheriff’s office served the warrants after a a grand jury recommended the indictment of four people following a yearlong investigation.
On March 27, 2021, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to North Lucas Road to a call regarding an unresponsive 19-month-old boy from Scottsville, according to police.
The sheriff’s office stated the child was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Officials further stated that detectives observed suspicious bruising on the child’s head, and autopsy results determined the death to be a homicide caused by blunt impact injuries to the head.
On May 18, the facts of the case were presented to Barren County Grand Jury, and indictments were returned. On May 27, the BCSO served the four indictment warrants and arrested the following:
Devin Pierce, 22; charged with murder
Serenity Brown, 19; charged with murder
Jessica Brown, 45; charged with tampering with physical evidence
Marty Brown, 59; charged with tampering with physical evidence
All four were lodged in Barren County Detention Center.
