Biden Set To Announce VP Pick

Former Vice President Joe Biden has picked his running mate...and could announce that pick at any time. NBC's Alice Barr reports.

(NBC News) — Joe Biden is set to announce his vice presidential running mate.

Biden already promised to pick a woman for his running mate, and following the nationwide protests touched off by the police killing of George Floyd, pressure mounted to select a woman of color.

The campaign says it’s held in-person interviews with all the major contenders including Senator Kamala Harris, former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senators Tammy Duckworth and Elizabeth Warren, and Congresswomen Karen Bass and Val Demings.

Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee has announced the speakers for next week’s convention.

The list includes former President Barack and Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
