Beshear proclaims Peer Support Appreciation Week

Addiction Recovery Care

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Andy Beshear proclaimed this week Peer Support Appreciation Week to honor peer providers who help others avoid relapsing by sharing their own experiences in recovery.

Governor Beshear signed the proclamation alongside Addiction Recovery Care, an Eastern and Central Kentucky-based addiction treatment center with over half of its workforce in recovery.

ARC says they’re on a long-term mission to empower peers and increase public awareness of just how integral peer supporters are to recovery.

Addiction Recovery Care Senior Director of Outpatient Services Jason Merrick said, “It’s just amazing to bring this kind of attention to such a needed service. Our peer supports are such a valuable asset in the recovery community. As providers, we lean on our peer support services every day, all the time.”

Merrick also wants those who are recovering from addiction to know there are career options here for you in peer support.
