Allen County, BG-Warren County Humane Society team up for TNR program

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – Allen County has entered into an agreement with the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society to offer a Trap Neuter and Release program within the county.

According to Allen County Judge-Executive Dennis Harper on Friday, there are some areas in the county that have a large number of cats.

The TNR program works to help keep track of an area’s feral cat population and prevent overpopulation.

Harper says a TNR team would arrive, trap the cats and get the cats spayed or neutered before adult cats would be brought back.

According to Harper, this process does not harm the animal.

Harper says the program is humane, and a TNR program has already been used in Allen County before.

If you have a large amount of feral cats in an area that are not being cared for, Harper says to call his office at 270-237-3631 or the humane society at 270-239-PETS. You may also call the county’s animal control director, Johnathan Carter, at 270-618-7387.
