BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Aviation Heritage Park’s newest acquisition has officially landed in Bowling Green.

On Saturday afternoon, a Sikorsky SH-3H helicopter arrived at Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport.

The aircraft was hauled by a semi-truck from Jacksonville, Fla.

“Aviation Heritage Park is thrilled that the SH-3H has arrived at its new home in Bowling Green,” said Aviation Heritage Park President, Joe Tinius.

Tinius says the helicopter won’t be unloaded until Sunday morning due to poor weather conditions Saturday. The helicopter will be placed along the fence line near the terminal so the general public can view it.

The aircraft is the same model as Marine One, the helicopter the President of the United States flies in.

The chopper will be on display at the Aviation Heritage Park to honor the late Marine Colonel, Mac Reynolds, who was a Bowling Green resident and flew Marine One for Presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Clinton.

After refurbishing work, the plan is to begin displaying the helicopter in June 2020.

The SH-3H will be the park’s 8th plane or helicopter.
