Bowling Green man arrested, charged with rape

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department arrested a suspect in a rape investigation Sunday.

According to police, a woman reported on Sunday that she had been visiting a friend when a male subject offered her a ride home.

Authorities say the victim told police the man, identified as 23-year-old Niyibitanga Venace of Bowling Green, forced her to have sexual intercourse in a parking lot.

The subject then allegedly drove her to her residence.

Police say the victim sought medical attention and contacted law enforcement.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Venace.

He remains at the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

The investigation is ongoing.
