Everyman’s everyman, who faced Federer at Wimbledon, retires

A tennis player who got a ton of attention when he faced Roger Federer at Wimbledon while ranked 772nd in the world has announced his retirement. Marcus Willis says on Twitter that he is ending his professional playing career to focus on coaching. Williams is a 30-year-old from Britain. He played only two tour-level matches as a pro. One was a first-round victory at Wimbledon in 2016 and the other was his straight-set loss to Federer on Centre Court in the second round that year. Willis was living with his parents and giving tennis lessons at a local club in England at the time.
