Following traffic stop a Cave City man is charged with trafficking meth

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Cave City man is in jail following a traffic stop charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
At about 3:30 p.m. Thursday the Barren River Drug Task Force and Kentucky State Police made a traffic stop on a 2019 white Nissan pick-up truck on Smith Road in Glasgow.
The driver of the vehicle, Eric Ray Sturgeon, 40, of Cave City declined consent to search and a K-9 unit responded to the scene, according to a press release from the Barren River Drug Task Force.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Jordan Matthews conducted a field sobriety test on Sturgeon and based on the tests, Sturgeon was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
The K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics from the vehicle, and law enforcement found a pound of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, pills, paraphernalia and cash, according to the release.
Sturgeon was also charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second offense greater or equal to two grams of meth.
He was lodged in the Barren County Jail.
Task force detectives later executed a search warrant for another vehicle and Sturgeon’s home where two handguns, paraphernalia and additional cash were found, according to the release.
Sturgeon is prohibited from possessing firearms. Additional charges are pending.
