Man accused of slitting another man’s throat in Scottsville

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – An Allen County man is accused of slitting another man’s throat.

Sunday morning, Scottsville police responded to the 400 block of East Walnut Street where they found a man bleeding heavily from the throat holding a towel to his neck. The man told police that another man he knows by the name of “Spud” cut his throat the previous night.

The wounded man could remember the last name Tomes but no other name. He told police he was cut with a knife at a home around West Main Street and South Bedilia.

A witness told police that he saw the wounded man and Robert Tomes, 31, get into an argument and Tomes cut the wounded man with a knife inside the witness’s home, according to Tomes’ arrest citation.

Police later found Tomes in the 300 block of West Main Street and arrested him. When police searched Tomes they said they found a clear plastic bag with a white substance in it believed to be methamphetamine and an uncapped syringe, according to his arrest citation.

He is charged with first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. according to his citation.

Tomes is scheduled for an arraignment Wednesday in Allen District Court. He is lodged in the Allen County Detention Center. Allen District Judge Martha Harrison set his bond Monday at $250,000 cash.
