BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph partnered with the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday to celebrate its grand opening.

Organizers say the school is the first Catholic high school to open in the Bowling Green area in more than 50 years.

School leaders said the school has a maximum capacity of 150 students, but does not intend to meet its limit in the first year, as the school is continuing to accept applications and plans to welcome its students when classes begin this fall.

“Our tagline is that we are a joyful Catholic classical high school, and we want high school to be a joyful experience for these students,” said Chesterton Headmaster Tom Stewart. “I want school to be a place where students enjoy coming, to learn to be challenged, but also to grow in virtue. One of our first missions is to help our students grow as saints in our classrooms. I want it to look like that and I want students to discover their vocations while they’re here.”
