Kentucky prepares for flu season with new campaign

Flu season is quickly approaching here in Kentucky, and three major state-wide health organizations are joining together to launch a new campaign for the upcoming season.

The new campaign has three simple, easy to follow messages: get your shot, consult your doctor and stop the spread.

Last year, the flu made more than 10,000 people sick in the commonwealth and took the lives of 325 as well.

This year, thanks to the ‘Focus on the Flu’ campaign, officials hope to see those numbers decrease.

Next Wednesday, September 26th is considered Kentucky Flu Shot Day.

Officials are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated by the end of October for maximum protection.
