NCM Motorsports Park Fire and Rescue Team training for upcoming season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park Fire and Rescue Team went through training today at the track.
The team practiced different scenarios like extracting someone from a vehicle and treating motorcycle crash victims.
The track hosts events around 150 days per year.
Last year, the team handled over 500 incidents at the track, including some serious injuries, which the team handled successfully.
Fire and Rescue Crew Chief Jon Lam said the training is meant to work on teamwork, planning, and communication in order to provide the best service to anyone in peril.
“Our goal is to get on scene, take care of the patient first, and then anything else that needs to be done and be clear of the scene in three to four minutes,” said Lam.
Lam says in the event of a fire or severe injury, seconds can count.
The team spent hours learning in a classroom and working hands-on outside.
“We have a great team out here. It’s a very small team but a lot of us work very closely together so we know everybody by name. It’s kind of a family atmosphere,” said Austin Conner, one of the first responders on the track.
