Barren community rallies at baseball game to support children of Trooper Phillips on the diamond

Rallying To Support Children Of Trooper Phillips

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren County community and hundreds of first responders gathered Wednesday night at Jackie B. Browning Park to rally around the family of fallen Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips.

The crowd packed the sidelines to cheer on Phillips’ two eldest sons, Kason and Knox, as they returned to the diamond.

Beyond his duties in uniform, Phillips had been deeply involved in local youth sports, serving as a coach for both of his sons’ Little League teams.

According to KSP Post 3 Public Affairs Officer Katan Parker, the massive turnout fulfilled the request made by Phillips’ wife, Jordan, who asked for community encouragement during her sons’ baseball games.

“Just a moment of peace and one minute of peace where everybody can just smile, remember him, his memories and everything that he’s done to make people laugh,” Parker said.

Attendees were treated to free Diet Coke and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, two of the fallen trooper’s favorite snacks.

Organizers emphasized that while the treats were a small tribute, the primary focus was extending long-term emotional support to a grieving family.

“We live in a great community,” said Chris Jennings, director of Barren County Parks and Recreation. “Normally when we go through tragedy like this, we tend to come together and show up and show out and support one another. When we see the park filled like this and see everyone coming out, a lot of familiar faces, just says a whole lot, again, about our community.”

The event stands as a promise from law enforcement and residents alike to stand by the Phillips family.

“She has a lot of family and a whole lot of love and support for this community, and that’s what she’s going to need for a long time,” Parker said.
