Jury finds former Oak Grove payroll clerk guilty of abuse of public trust, tampering with public records

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A former Oak Grove payroll clerk has been found guilty of altering her work hours to receive overpayments.

According to Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, a Christian County jury found 40-year-old Hailey Bamford, of Fort Campbell, guilty of one count of abuse of public trust and three counts of tampering with public records on Monday evening.

AG Coleman says Bamford was hired as the payroll clerk for the City of Oak Grove in Jan. 2022.

According to court documents, Bamford changed her hours to reflect both regular and overtime hours she did not work from May 2022 through October 2023.

Bamford received overpayments ranging from $100 to $1,000, according to the attorney general.

AG Coleman says the jury recommended a sentence of one year of imprisonment and be required to pay restitution to the City of Oak Grove.
