Kids on the Block hosts kids run to support programs in Simpson County

Kids On The Block Great Puppet Sprint

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky Kids on the Block hosted their inaugural Great Puppet Sprint presented by German American Bank Saturday morning.

The event was held at Jim Roberts Community Park in Franklin and featured three races for children 14 and under.

Over 100 kids participated in the three races. Runners received a finisher’s medal, a tech shirt and a goodie bag

Executive Director Ashley Reynolds says the non-profit’s annual event sponsorships and engagements are crucial to providing kids in Simpson County and the region with child abuse education.

“The main issue is neglect. You know, a lot with the economy, things going on in these families, a lot of times children just can’t get the things they need. So the child abuse program really asks, make sure that children have a safe adult and they can talk to the safe adult and saying, I’m not getting these things that I need,” said Reynolds.

Reynolds says the race will allow the non-profit to bring their programs to Simpson County free of charge.

The non-profit will host Dash for Sheldon in Glasgow on Saturday, July 25 and Scotty’s Pound the Pavement on Saturday, August 8. Registration is free for both races.
