Glasgow man formally charged with third-degree rape of minor

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A Glasgow man is facing a rape charge involving a minor under 16.
According to an indictment, 32-year-old LaJuan Smith of Glasgow was arrested by law enforcement on Friday.
The document states that on or around December 31, 2024 in Barren County, Smith “committed the crime” of third-degree rape when he allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a victim less than 16 years old.
Smith was released Friday from the Barren County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond, jail records state.
According to an associate of the Boys & Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County, Smith was “employed by the Boys & Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren for a short period that ended in 2022. He has not been employed by or affiliated with the club in any capacity since then. Law enforcement confirmed this charge is not related to the club.”
Due to the case being a legal matter, no further comment was released.
