COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating multiple deaths following an hours-long standoff in Adair County on Monday.

Authorities say three separate individuals were located dead at three different homes in Adair County on Monday night.

This follows after multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a disturbance call on Chestnut Grove Road just before 11 a.m. Monday, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Authorities say what followed was an hours-long standoff involving 39-year-old Ryan Sneed of Columbia, Kentucky, who had barricaded himself in the residence and shot at law enforcement. According to troopers, prior to this, Ryan Sneed had begun shooting at a deputy and another individual.

Troopers say KSP’s Special Response Team escorted the individual and Adair County deputies to safety and attempted to speak with Ryan Sneed to negotiate a peaceful resolution.

Throughout the afternoon, authorities say Ryan Sneed exchanged gunfire with law enforcement.

Shortly before 7 p.m., troopers say Ryan Sneed exited the home armed with a gun before KSP’s SRT discharged agency-issued firearms, striking Ryan Sneed.

Ryan Sneed was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County coroner. No law enforcement members were injured during the incident.

Authorities say three separate ongoing death investigations include that of 37-year-old Michael Adam Curry, along with Ryan Sneed’s 67-year-old mother, Joyce Sneed, and his aunt, 63-year-old Debra Clark.

Troopers say Ryan Sneed may be a person of interest in the deaths.

Authorities say Curry was located dead in the home where the standoff occurred on Chestnut Grove Road.

In addition, KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an ongoing investigation into the trooper-involved shooting.
