Man sentenced to 23 years after fatal Lovers Lane crash

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is facing over two decades in prison after a fatal crash on Lovers Lane claimed the life of a local woman.
According to court records, 32-year-old Ryan Bagwell of White House, Tennessee was sentenced on Feb. 24 to a total of 23 years in prison.
This follows a fatal crash that claimed the life of 40-year-old Ashley C. Porter of Bowling Green on July 24, 2024. Officers say they determined Bagwell was traveling north on Lovers Lane when he drove into Porter’s lane as she was traveling south.
The crash reportedly occurred early that morning, just before 6:15 a.m.
Court records state Bagwell pleaded guilty in January 2025 to vehicular homicide when under the influence of a substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, fourth or greater offense, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine) and tampering with physical evidence.
According to court records, multiple charges were dismissed in January, including drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (drug unspecified) and possession of marijuana.
Bagwell’s initial charge of murder was also amended to vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol, court records state.
Bagwell remains at the Warren County Regional Jail.
