Kentucky State Police Trooper plays key role in rescue of bald eagle

LONDON, Ky. – A Kentucky State Police trooper assisted in the rescue of a bald eagle.

According to KSP, Post 11 London responded to a report of a juvenile bald eagle that was in distress and unable to fly near Collins Lane in Corbin on June 30.

Trooper Trey Lovins located the bald eagle and captured it. Trooper Lovins made contact with Lake Cumberland Wildlife Refuge and Liberty Nature Center, based in Somerset. The organizations specialize in rehabilitating raptors and birds of prey.

The bald eagle was transported to the nature center for care.

KSP says the bald eagle received treatment and was released back into the wild on July 31.

The nature center named the bald eagle “Trooper” in honor of Trooper Lovins.
